Spots & Stripes

This card is for today's Technique Lovers Challenge on SCS. I first saw this technique, if you could call it that, at the VA Beach Regional Seminar in April. It is basically using up your scraps to create a striped background. You collect a bunch of different width cardstock scraps, glue them down to the cardfront and trim to size. I used a color combo from the Color Coach for inspiration here.

The main image on the card is the big flower from Polka-Dot Posies. It's stamped in Cameo Coral and Rose Red using the rock and roll technique. The Walmart near my house had a big box of colorful buttons on clearance and one of them was a pretty close match to Cameo Coral, so I put that in the center of the flower with some copper cord tied through the button holes. I added some paper piercing around the edge of the large scalloped circle and just above the ribbon. The ribbon covered up where my stripes aren't exactly straight at the top. I love how the dots (spots) and stripes look together on this card. Fun and easy to make--and a great way to use up some of my scraps!

Materials Used:
From Stampin' Up!: Polka-dot Posies stamp set; Cameo Coral and Rose Red Classic inks; Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, and Whisper White cardstock; word window punch; mat pack and paper piercing tool; copper cord (retired SU!)
Other: mega circle and giga scalloped circle punches (Marvy Uchida); coral button (Walmart); copper brad (Making Memories); green grosgrain (AC Moore dollar bin)
