Grow

I made this card using this week's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. I used the Bo Bunny patterned paper that covered the cardfront for inspiration for the rest of the card.

Since the paper has kind of a flower theme with green swirly leafy branches and bold circular flowers, I decided to incorporate that into my design for the card. I used some olive craft ink to stamp the sentiment, "grow, " from the kit from Unity Stamp Company, directly on the patterned paper. A lot of Unity's images are large, so they're great for focal images on cards (and for scrapbooking, too). I added a layered pair of the flower embellishments to the letter "o" in the sentiment, along with a flat-backed pearl in the center of the top flower.

I found a coordinating piece of wide olive grosgrain ribbon to tie around the cardfront. I used a matching piece of olive cardstock and the Fiskars Threaded Water punch to create the scalloped strip for the right side of the card. I decided the panel looked a little plain, so I added some zig zag machine stitching. Since my stitching wasn't too straight, I added a trio of flowers to the bottom of the panel to cover it up just a bit. My sewing is like my drawing--no matter what I do, I can't produce a straight line--LOL!

Materials Used:
Flirty Flowers stamp kit (Unity Stamp Company); patterned paper (BoBunny-Organic Laurel); Old Olive Craft ink, Old Olive cardstock, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); olive grosgrain ribbon (Morex); flat-backed pearls (Target); flowers (Making Memories); Threaded Water punch (Fiskars); sewing machine

  4. Such a pretty card!! And I love the sentiment stamped right onto the patterned paper, like it's already part of the pattern.
