Fabulous Flower

I spent most of the day today sleeping, trying to get rid of a nasty cold. I felt awake enough tonight to venture down to my craft room. I pulled together this card based on this week's Mojo Monday sketch, incorporating some elements from a card I created a few weeks ago for the blogger challenge group I participate in.

I used the large flower from Verve's Love's Flower stamp set as the focal image. I stamped the flower twice in black ink and colored the images with Copic markers. I cut the flowers out and layered them using foam tape for a dimensional look. Before I layered the flowers, I spritzed them with some new Shimmer Spritz in Frost. It gave the image a subtle shimmer--so pretty! And, FYI, if you accidentally spritz the stuff somewhere you don't want it, it erases easily with an art eraser (don't ask . . .). A small self-adhesive crystal dot is at the center of the flower for a little more sparkle.

I used some dotted paper from the My Mind's Eye Be Loved Collection Kit to cover most of the cardfront. A strip of coordinating paper, edged with a decorative scalloped border and covered with matching grosgrain ribbon runs across most of the cardfront. I added smaller red pieces as accents above and below the strip. The stamp set's sentiment is stamped on one of the panels. It took me a while to get the proportions of the red panels right, but I think I'm happy with what I came up with in the end.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic markers (R22, R24, R27, G21, G24, G28, YR21), Tsukineko Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz, Zva Creative self-adhesive crystal, My Mind's Eye Be Loved Collection Kit, Nestabilities circle die
