Krafty Happy Bird-Day

*****Scroll down to the post below for info about this month's Stamp of the Month from Clear & Simple Stamps.*****

Today's SCS clean and simple challenge was to create a square card. I made a 4" square card featuring images from Unity's February Stampin' Store Kit, Life Is Fabulous, available at at i {heart} papers.

I went with a sort of monochromatic look with just a pop of red. The birdhouse and bird are stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I used a Copic marker to color in the bird for some contrast. I dotted just a bit of Platinum Liquid Pearls at the center of each flower on the birdhouse for a little dimension.

The "happy bird-day" sentiment is stamped on a scrap of kraft cardstock and backed with a red circle, then attached to the stamped panel with foam tape. I added a red herringbone ribbon strip, embellished with a wooden button, to fill in some of the white space at the top left corner of the card. I went back and forth on whether or not to add it, but in the end, decided to go for it.

Materials Used:

other: Riding Hood Red and Kraft cardstock (Stampin' Up!); circle punches (EK Success); wooden button, twine (Papertrey Ink); foam tape
