For the Birthday Boy

Here’s my card for this week’s SCS clean and simple challenge. This week’s challenge was an inspiration challenge featuring a photo of a fabulous wreath made of balloons. You can see the fabulous photo--and directions to make your own wreath--here. I worked from that to come up with this birthday card.

I started with the balloon duo image from Verve’s Birthday Bash set. I stamped the image on the white card base, then stamped the smaller balloon a second time to form a trio of balloons. The balloons are paper pieced using cardstock scraps in primary colors.

I used a star border punch to make a bold border for underneath the balloons. A piece of red ribbon is knotted around the top of the strip. The set’s “for the birthday boy” sentiments are stamped in blue ink next to the balloon bunch. Clean, cute, and perfect for a little boy’s birthday!

Materials Used:
Birthday Bash stamp set (Verve Stamps); white cardstock (Xerox); Pacific Point Classic ink, Pacific Point, Crushed Curry, and Real Red cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Classic Stars border punch (Martha Stewart); red grosgrain ribbon (Michaels)
