How Tweet!

Here's my card for this week's Waltzingmouse sketch challenge to make a one layer card. I stayed true to the challenge's one layer requirement, using only one piece of white paper for this simple thank you card.

I started off by making a mask to use at the bottom of the card to form a grassy hill. After setting the mask in place with some repositionable adhesive, I stamped one of the gingham strips from the Gingham & Co. set beneath the mask in light green ink. I removed the mask and added the tree from the Teeny Trees set using brown and light green inks, then used a cloud template and some light blue ink to sponge in a cloud-filled blue sky.

For a pop of color, I stamped one of the birds from the tree set in the tree using red ink. I added a very tiny clear crystal to the bird's eye to give the card a little sparkle. A piece of satin celery ribbon from my scrap pile is knotted around the top of the card and the "how tweet" sentiment from the Lil' Buddies set is stamped next to the tree. The sentiment leaves me with a few options for using the card--maybe a thank you note, maybe a congratulations card . . .

Materials Used:
Gingham & Co., Teeny Trees, and Lil' Buddies stamp sets (Waltzingmouse Stamps); white cardstock (Xerox); Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue Classic inks (Stampin' Up!); Memento Rich Cocoa and Lady Bug inks (Tsukineko); green satin ribbon (Michaels); clear crystal

  3. Very pretty card, Lori. I very much like the clouded sky and the tree with the tiny little bird is so beautiful. And to use the Gingham set as hill is just a great idea.

    Kind regards
