Color Throwdown 193-With Gratitude

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! This week, Wanda’s brought us a pretty color palette to try—Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sunrise, and Marvelous Magenta. I added a little kraft to the mix as a neutral and came up with this sweet thank you card.

I used this week’s sketch from Retro Sketches along with the Trendy Tree Tops set from Papertrey Ink. The set’s tree is the focal image in the scene. I die cut the tree pieces, then stamped the matching image on the tree trunk and embossed the green tree top with a dotted pattern to add interest. The bird cut out in the tree top is backed with a scrap of magenta cardstock. I added the tiniest pearl I could find in my stash as an eye. The tree’s set on a piece of grid patterned paper—it’s hard to tell in the photo, but the grid lines are a magenta-like color. I attached a strip of grass made with a border punch to ground the image, then wrapped some green baker’s twine around it. A bright felt sun with a button center sits at the top of the panel.

I used a piece of dotted golden yellow paper for the panel at the right side of the card. It’s layered on a coordinating piece of solid cardstock and set on the kraft card base with the image panel placed over it.

The “with gratitude” sentiment is from the Lovely Leaves set. The patterned paper I used didn’t take the ink well and it got a blurry look the first time I stamped it, so I tried again with a small strip of the patterned paper and a different kind of ink. Fortunately, I was able to attach the strip to the panel by slipping the top edge underneath the grass strip so I could hide my mistake . . .

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD193. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and May’s guestie, Kittie Caracciolo:
