Hey There

Here’s my card for this week’s Paper Smooches Sparks “cool shades” challenge. I used the 4 colors and the current Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for this one.  I love to play along with Karen's sketches--they're always inspiring!

I used the giraffe image from the Zoo Crew set for my focal image. It’s colored with Copic markers. I used a little bit of soft purple to make a shadow under the giraffe—since purple and yellow are complementary colors, it worked out nicely. The “hey there” sentiment from the Sentiment Sampler set is stamped alongside the giraffe’s neck in black ink.

The rest of the card’s pretty simple. I used a yellow dotted patterned paper across most of the card and topped it with a red gingham patterned piece, then machine stitched around the edges. I set the image panel on top and accented it with a pair of baker’s twine tied buttons—one cream and one lilac. I used some off-white twill to make the little notch-ended tabs at the bottom of the image panel. I didn’t have a twill in my stash that was the “right” red, so I colored a piece of cream twill with a red Copic marker to make it fit the bill.
