Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop

The inspiration photo for this month’s Papertrey Ink blog hop features a green and black color scheme with some bold patterns. I took my inspiration from the colors and the look of the multiple layers of dishes stacked one on top of the other to create this birthday card.

I stamped the large leaves from Turning a New Leaf on an Aqua Mist card base using Simply Chartreuse ink.  For the flowers, I die cut a pair of yellow dotted blooms using the one of the Beautiful Blooms II dies.  For dimension, I added a solid yellow circle topped with a pearl to the center of each flower before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

To bring in a ruffled element, I pleated a strip of Harvest Gold cardstock to set at the bottom of the card.  It's secured by a piece of Simply Chartreuse satin ribbon.  I slipped a little strip of Simply Chartreuse cardstock at the bottom of the cardfront, just underneath the lower edge of the pleated strip.  The "sending you a happy hello" sentiment from the Sending You set is stamped in the upper right corner of the card in Hawaiian Shores ink.  A sentiment with a "hello" in it seemed like the right match for this cheery design!

Materials Used:
Turning a New Leaf and Sending You stamp sets, Simply Chartreuse and Hawaiian Shores inks, Aqua Mist and Harvest Gold cardstock, Bitty Dot Basics patterned paper, Beautiful Blooms II #1 die, Simply Chartreuse satin ribbon (Papertrey Ink); 1/2" circle punch (EK Success); self-adhesive pearls (Recollections); foam tape
