It's time for this month's Waltzingmouse Stamps blog party! Here's what I came up with for the Blog Party--after a failed first attempt at some masking with spray mists (I want to like those mists, but I just can't get them to work for me . . .)--based on elements in the inspiration photo that was provided.
I used this week's Waltzingmouse sketch challenge as my starting point. I used shades of aqua blue, like in the inspiration photo. At first my large light aqua panel was plain, but I went back and stamped the heart border pattern from the Nordic Spring in a coordinating ink. To mirror the inspiration photo's rectangular shapes, I layered the aqua panel on a darker aqua mat and machine stitched around the edges to define the border. The stitched panel is set on an aqua card base.
The half table leaning set against the wall in the inspiration picture seemed to resemble the half-circle on the card sketch. I used a large doily die cut for this element and embellished it with some light colored paper flowers with a big self-adhesive pearl at the center, bringing in the photo's floral element. I stamped the "heartfelt thanks" sentiment from the Frame It set on a notch-ended strip and set that on the doily, tucking the end under the flowers. Not my normal style, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Materials Used:
Nordic Spring and Frame It stamp sets (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist inks, Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist cardstock (Papertrey Ink); doily die (My Favorite Things); flowers (Prima); self-adhesive pearl (Recollections); sewing machine

Haha! Lori, I can't get those mists to look right for me either. I always just end up using them to spray on my flowers. But I love your card....I always love anything with a doily or anything with that aqua blue! They are my favorite embellishments and one of my favorite colors!
