Birthday Wishes for You

I'm just back from my beach vacation with Chloe the cutie puppy (if you're one of my Facebook friends, you can check out a few little video clips that I posted of her on the beach playing in the water and digging in the sand--she's too funny!) and starting to get back in to my stamping groove.  I started off with this week's Waltzingmouse Stamps sketch challenge and this week's blogger challenge group theme to "say it with words" and came up with this bright birthday card.

I've had this number patterned paper in my stash for a long time and decided it would make a perfect paper to build a birthday card around.  Drawing from the colors of the numbers, I paired it with a green on green dotted paper and a bold yellow dot embossed strip.  Instead of tying ribbon underneath the yellow strip, I added a narrow piece of green washi tape.  It adds a nice detail without adding any bulk to the design.

To go with the numbers, I combined parts of two of the sentiments from the Compact Sentiments set to stamp "birthday wishes for you" in green ink on a white oval.  It's accented with a single silver star brad.

Materials Used:
Compact Sentiments (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Memento Bamboo Leaves ink (Tsukineko); Daffodil Delight and Whisper White cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Creme de Menthe cardstock (Gina K Designs); It's My Party Time and Kiwi Double Dot designer papers (BoBunny); oval dies (Spellbinders); Polka Dots embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts); green washi tape, silver star brad (Recollections)
