Color Throwdown 213-Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Broni is our hostess this week and she’s brought us this pretty combination to try—Lucky Limeade, Melon Mambo, and Pumpkin Pie. I combined the colors with new stamps and dies available as part of the Collection 5 release starting today at Clear and Simple Stamps to make a card and coordinating gift topper.

For the card, I made a simple scene, built on a piece of white cardstock that's debossed with a dotted pattern. I added strips of die cut grass along the bottom and some fluffy white felt clouds, cut with the dies from the new Clouds Combo stamp and die set from CSS. You'll be seeing a lot of clouds made with these stamps and dies on my creations!  To go with the clouds, I made a sun from an orange button, tied with matching orange baker’s twine. The panel is layered on a pink mat, then set on a white card base.

I stamped the “you are my sunshine on a cloudy day” sentiment from the new Cloudy Days Sentiments set in pink ink on a white panel. It’s matted on orange cardstock, then layered on the card base, overlapping the scene, too. The bright mats really make the white on white panels pop off of the cardfront.

To go along with the card, I packaged up a pair of small sunglasses in a cello bag with a decorative topper. The topper’s cut with one of the Toppers dies and stamped with the matching dotted image from the Toppers Fillers stamp set. I added another white felt cloud to the top, then stamped “little miss sunshine” on a Favor Flag die cut. The sentiment is layered on an orange Favor Flag die cut, then set over the cloud on the topper. I added an orange button sun, tied with baker’s twine, to finish it off.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD213. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and our October guestie, Dawn Easton.
