CSS Party Hop-Monster Birthday Bash

The Clear and Simple Stamps design team is capping off our Release in Review week with today’s party hop. Each designer will be sharing a party ensemble created with stamps and dies from the Collection 5 release. I created a monster themed birthday party for a little boy including a coordinating invitation, table decoration, and party favor made with some of the Uglies sets and dies.

The invitation is a 4 ¼” square card. The front features two of the tiniest Uglies from the Taglines: Uglies set perched on the number 2. I didn’t have a chipboard 2 on hand, so I used my Silhouette to cut out a bunch of identical 2’s, stacked them, and topped them with one cut from orange dotted paper. I stamped the “our little monster is turning” sentiment next to the numeral in blue ink.  A pair of Favor Flag die cuts in the upper left corner, accented with a button, balances out the design.

For the inside of the invitation, I used one of the grid images from the Party Elements: Celebrations set for the party info and stamped several of the sentiments from the Taglines: Uglies set above and below the grid to go with the monster theme.  I added one of the Uglies, too, for a pop of contrasting color.

I used one of the Build-an-Ugly dies to create a table decoration. I cut Leroy out of the same orange dotted paper I used for the 2 on the front of the invitation, then added the die cut eyes and tooth. The number 2 from the Alpha Dots set is stamped on a Favor Flags die cut piece and attached to the back of the die cut piece on a wooden skewer.  I made a little easel-like piece from cardstock and attached that to the back of the die cut so it will stand up on its own.

For a party favor, I used the Little Uglies dies to make finger puppets from felt. After cutting the bodies from blue and orange felt, I stamped the matching image from the Little Uglies stamp set on the felt in Perfect Little Black Dress ink. The ink stamped beautifully on the fabric. To give the puppets a little dimension, I hand stitched a button eye on each one. I have to admit I took the easy way out and used fabric glue to hold the puppets together instead of machine stitching them!

The pair of puppets fit perfectly inside a  die cut Party Favor 1 box. I decorated the box with another orange dotted Uglies die cut and added a thank you sentiment on a Favor Flag die cut strip.
