Nature of Winter

For today's Clear and Simple Stamps group challenge, the CSS design team was challenged to incorporate natural elements into our designs.

For my natural element, I used a thin piece of wood I found at the craft store. I stamped a heart from the Shapes: Hearts set on the wood, then stamped the “I love you” sentiment from the Icons Sentiments set inside the heart. CSS’s ink worked beautifully on the wood, stamping without bleeding at all.

After making a matching heart shaped opening in a piece of Kraft Like a Rockstar Cardstock, I used the Imprints 4 plate to make a woodgrain impression on the panel, then set it over the wood piece, lining up the heart shapes. I rubbed the woodgrain panel with some distress inks to highlight the pattern a bit. The heart is accented with a kraft button, tied with a little twine.  I was going for a twist on the traditional initials carved into a tree trunk.  What do you think?

Don’t miss what the rest of the CSS team has created to inspire you. Here’s where to find them:

  1. I love how simple but so cute. The wood grain embossing the perfect touch.
