You Make My Heart Spin

Here’s a quick card for this week’s sketch at CAS-e This Sketch. I used some older Valentine’s Day themed papers with the CutUps Pinwheel die from The Cat’s Pajamas to put this one together in no time at all.

I love the bold, bright colors in this Doodlebug Design paper pad, but have such a hard time finding the right mix of papers and colors when using it. Keeping it simple by matching one of the striped papers with a solid card base that almost exactly matches one of the stripe colors worked well here.

I made the pinwheel out of another piece of paper from the same collection. It has some of the same pink shade as on the card base, but a few other colors and a bit of white for contrast. I added a piece of wooden skewer as a handle for the pinwheel. To adhere the skewer to the card, I used a piece of narrow ScorTape. The “you make my heart spin” sentiment from the What a Blast set is stamped underneath the pinwheel in a bold, black ink.

Materials Used:
What a Blast stamp set, CutUps Pinwheel die,  (The Cat’s Pajamas); Pixie Pink cardstock (Stampin’ Up!);Versafine Onyx Black ink (Tsukineko); Sweet Cakes 6x6 paper pad (Doodlebug Design); silver brad (Michaels); wooden skewer
