Have a Blast

Here’s my card for this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. It’s been a while since I inked up my Half Pint Heroes set from Waltzingmouse Stamps, so I put it to use for the challenge.

I used the rocket ship as my focal image. It’s colored with Copic markers and cut out. I added a large clear dome sticker to make a glass-like cover for the rocket’s “window.”

To make a starry sky backdrop for the rocket, I used the CutUps Star Rosette die from The Cat's Pajamas, left flat. I backed the die cut piece with a regular golden yellow circle to fill in the stars with color, then set the piece on a navy panel. A star patterned strip runs across the bottom of the die cut and the rocket is set over that using foam tape. I stamped the “have a blast on your big day” on a golden yellow notch-ended strip and adhered that to the card, extending out from underneath the rocket ship. What a super cute birthday card for a little boy!

Materials Used:
Half Pint Heroes stamp set (Waltzingmouse Stamps); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Night of Navy, Baja Breeze, and So Saffron cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Follow Your Heart "Be Amazing" Geo Star designer paper (My Mind’s Eye); CutUps Star Rosette die (The Cat’s Pajamas); foam tape
