Wishing You Good Fortune

I'm always looking for stamp sets that will work well for masculine cards.  I think I've found one in the new Avery Elle Good Fortune set.  The fortune cookie and Magic 8 ball images and coordinating sentiments in this set are great for masculine cards! I used the set along with this week’s sketch from The Paper Players to put together this card.

I went with the fortune cookie image for my design. I colored the fortune cookie with Spectrum Noir markers and cut it out, then used dimensional dots to attach it to a round panel. After curving the “wishing you good fortune” sentiment a bit on my clear block, I stamped it to fit inside the outline of the fortune strip. The cutout strip extends out from underneath the raised fortune cookie image.

I went with a somewhat traditional Chinese new year color scheme for the design. I used a piece of red on red patterned paper from one of Echo Park’s mini collection kits to cover most of the cardfront. I used a strip of shimmery gold paper for the long panel that extends down from the top of the card. A strip of golden yellow dotted washi tape runs down the center of the panel to add a contrasting pattern to the card.
