You're Never Too Old

At my office, we pick birthday buddies and bring in a sweet treat for our assigned buddy’s birthday. Somehow, I ended up getting two buddies this year, so my second buddy’s birthday is coming up over the weekend. We’ll be celebrating tomorrow with fancy cupcakes from a local cupcake store. I made this card, based on this week’s sketch from Retro Sketches, to pass around for everyone to sign for the birthday girl.

I used a trio of layered party hats, made with the party hat die from Lil’ Inker Designs, for the elements along the left side of the card. I cut the hats from three different colors of cardstock, then mixed and matched the hats before adhering them to a white strip. The little pom pom at the top of each hat is dotted with a tiny clear crystal for a bit of sparkle. I edged the strip with a pale pink scalloped piece before attaching it to the rose card base. The “you’re never too old to wear a party hat” sentiment is stamped on an yellow notch-ended strip in a rosy pink ink and adhered to the panel with foam tape.

Materials Used:
You're Invited stamp set, Party Hat dies (Lil’ Inker Designs); Regal Rose, Barely Banana, Pumpkin Pie, Pink Pirouette, and Whisper White cardstock, scallop edge punch (Stampin’ Up!); Memento Rose Bud ink (Tsukineko); clear crystals (Michaels); foam tape
