Class Is in Session at Michaels

Michaels recently offered me the opportunity to attend one of their in-store classes. Michaels offers classes in lots of different crafts, including paper crafting, crocheting, and cake decorating, for all different levels of crafters from beginner to advanced. I decided to take the opportunity to stretch myself and try something new to me—beading!

My crafty friend and I spent Friday night at our local Michaels learning to make a beaded bracelet in an introductory bead stringing course. We spent a little time before the class wandering around the beading aisles, getting acquainted with the tools and materials. Since we’re both paper crafters, this was a whole new world for us! There was a huge selection of beads to choose from and we were finally able to narrow down our choices for our bracelets.

Our course instructor was fantastic. All of the store employees who heard we were taking the class kept saying how great she was and we weren’t disappointed! Neither of us had any real beading experience, but in less than two hours, we each made a beautiful bracelet with beads strung on memory wire. Our instructor provided an introduction to beading supplies and tools, a demonstration of basic beading techniques, and an opportunity for us to practice the techniques and to receive individual feedback and assistance along the way.

I’m so pleased with my finished bracelet. I’ve worn it several times now and gotten complements each time I’ve worn it!  I didn't get to take photos during class--I didn't want to put down my work in progress and risk losing track of my pattern, or even worse, losing any beads--but here's a photo of my finished bracelet.

The class was a great girls’ night out activity, especially when it’s followed up with a yummy dinner, too. Now that we’ve gotten started, I have a feeling we may be heading back to Michaels for more beading classes in the future . . .

**Disclosure:  Michaels compensated me for the cost of the class tuition and supplies, but all opinions expressed here about my experience are my own. **
