Color Throwdown 240-Happy Bird-day

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Broni is our hostess this week and she’s chosen this pretty color palette--Apricot Appeal, Ballet Blue, Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, and Pool Party.

The layout for my card comes from this week’s challenge at The Paper Players. I had a hard time with the colors at first—the cool blues, green, and purple worked well together for me, but adding in the warmer apricot was a challenge!

I finally settled on making a birthday card using the bird image from the Paper Smooches Birthday Buddies set. The bird is colored with Spectrum Noir markers and adhered to a round panel with dimensional dots. I set the bird on a strip of green cardstock layered on top of a pale blue patterned paper panel. The trio of fishtail flag strips extending out from underneath the image panel brings in the rest of the challenge colors. I stamped the set’s “happy bird-day” sentiment in black ink on the narrowest strip. A purple button, threaded with some green baker’s twine, adds a finishing touch. Now that I look at the card again, I think I might go back and add a tiny crystal to the top of the bird's party hat for a bit of sparkle . . .

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD240. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and May's guest designer, Audrey Hiltke.
