Have a Fabulous Birthday

Here’s my card for the current sketch at Seize the Birthday. I created a feminine birthday card based on the sketch using one of the a la modes stamp sets from My Favorite Things.

I colored the girl with balloons with Copic markers, and then attached the colored image to a pale pink mat. The birthday sentiment is stamped next to the image, along the edge of the panel.

The panel is adhered over a matching pink card base that I covered with a pair of coordinating patterned papers. I’m working on cleaning out my stash of older patterned papers and came across these pretties during my clean up, so I thought this would be a good time to put them to use. The seam between the papers is hidden with a strip of pink satin ribbon from my scrap pile. Instead of using a pair of buttons as an accent along the side of the image, I used a pair of pale pink round discs from my stash.  They add a little detail without adding too much bulk.

Materials Used:
a la modes Big Birthday Wishes stamp set (My Favorite Things); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Pink Pirouette cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Alphabet Soup Girl-“Flower Patch” and Alphabet Soup Boy-“Ledger” designer papers (My Mind’s Eye); pink discs (Stamping Bella)
