Shine Bright

It was nice to have a little extra stamping time over the long weekend!  I put this card together yesterday based on a combination of this week's sketch from The Paper Players and inspiration from the color scheme, star elements, doily, and stripes found in Dawn's current Monday Mood Board.

I mixed and matched papers from a pair of Fancy Pants paper pads for the 4 panels arranged on the navy card base.  The red paper looks like it's a regular cardstock scrap, but it's actually from one of the patterned paper pads.  I usually end up not using the solids that come in the paper pads (I'm buying them for patterned paper, right?), so it was nice to find a way to fit one of them in to this design.  I used a red and white chevron pattern to fill in one of the blocks and a navy and white striped pattern to fill in the final one.

Once I had the blocks of paper in place, I dressed them up just a bit.  I added a piece of white doily to the narrow red strip at the top of the card.  The bottom solid red strip is stamped with the "shine bright like a diamond" sentiment from the WPlus9 Strictly Sentiments 1 set.  To accent it, I added a die cut silver star and a clear crystal swirl trail extending out from behind it.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papersWPlus9 Strictly Sentiments 1 stamp set, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Fancy Pants Down by the Shore and Trendsetter 6x6 paper pads, Zva Creative clear crystal swirl, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

other:  Night of Navy cardstock (Stampin' Up!); silver paper (Target); CutUps 3x3 Stars die (The Cat's Pajamas); white paper doily (Hobby Lobby)

  1. Beautiful card, Lori! Everything matches perfectly - eye-catching and stunning! You've inspired me to 'rethink' those solid colours in the 'patterned' pads; they often end up neglected, but now, I can see ways to give them some centre stage! Thanks for the day-brightening card, and 'eye-opening' ideas.

  2. I love that you went out of the box and didn't choose a floral design...these bold graphic colors are so fun! The star and rhinestones add just the right touch to step it up a notch...and the sentiment is perfect! Thanks for making my sketch look so good!
