Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 185-Thanks for a Great Year

It’s time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! The school year is coming to a close here soon, so I used the sketch to put together a teacher thank you card.

As a teacher, I can’t resist school-themed stamp sets, so I added the new A Good Apple set from Lawn Fawn to my collection recently. I used the set’s chalkboard as my focal image. I paper pieced the image, stamping the frame on kraft cardstock that I rubbed with some distress ink for a weathered look, then adding a piece of gray cardstock inside the frame for the chalkboard. I stamped the “thanks for a great year” sentiment in white ink and heat embossed it, then rubbed a bit of white ink on the panel for a chalkdusted look. To add a little color to the image, I stamped the set’s apple and ruler images, colored them with Spectrum Noir markers and cut them out, then arranged them along the chalkboard’s ledge.

The chalkboard is attached to a kraft card base covered with two coordinating patterned papers. I thought the text and notebook paper stripes in the striped papers worked perfectly for a school themed card!

To play along, just create a card based on the sketch and link it up on Karen’s blog. For lots of inspiration be sure to check out what the other Sweet Sunday Sketch stampers have created for you this week. Here’s where to find them:
