You Made It

This week’s blogger challenge theme is graduation. It’s been a while since I used one of my a la modes sets from My Favorite Things and the Grad Girl was perfect for the challenge. I used her as the focal image in this card based on the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

I colored the image with Copic markers and carefully cut it out, then adhered it to a long panel using foam tape. The panel is matted on navy cardstock and edged with a strip of dotted patterned paper. Now that I look at it again, I’ve realized the colors of the dots are kind of close to my high school’s colors—blue and kelly green. Maybe that was somewhere in the back of my mind when I picked the color scheme . . . A piece of narrow navy ribbon divides the patterned section from the white panel.

I set the image panel on a light blue card base. Instead of stamping the sentiment along the bottom of the card, I decided to stamp it along the edge of the image panel.  The "you made it" sentiment is stamped in navy ink for one more pop of color.

Materials Used:
a la modes Grad Girl stamp set (My Favorite Things); Sea Glass cardstock (Avery Elle); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black and Nautical Blue inks (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Night of Navy cardstock, navy grosgrain ribbon (Stampin’ Up!); Kate and Co.-Oxford Lane 6x6 paper pad (My Mind’s Eye); foam tape
