All Tied Up

Here’s my card for this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. I used the necktie image from the masculine stamp set that came in my June Simon Says Stamp card kit to put this quick Father’s Day design together.

I stretched the sketch to a rectangle so my finished card would be easier to mail. That gave me room to stamp a few more ties on the image panel! I ended up with five, stamped in an alternating pattern of blue and kraft inks.

The stamped panel is layered over a panel made from two coordinating patterned papers. The seam between the two papers is covered by a strip of beige twill—it adds a nice, masculine texture to the design. I layered the panel on a kraft base to bring in a bit more of the earthy, brown color. The “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment is added on top of the card on a blue strip. It’s anchored with a brown button tied with twine.

Materials Used: Dude stamp set (Simon Says Stamp); Memento Teal Zeal and Toffee Crunch inks (Tsukineko); Whisper White cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Kraft cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Kate and Co.-Oxford Lane 6x6 paper pad (My Mind’s Eye); twill (Martha Stewart); natural hemp twine (Hemptique)
