Waltzingmouse Stamps June Blog Party

I'm joining in on this month's Waltzingmouse Stamps blog party with a summery creation to fit the party's theme.  I don't have many WMS sets that scream "summer," so I turned to My Island along with the current sketch from Retro Sketches for this bright creation.

I used the set's pair of palm trees for my image panel.  Originally, I planned to stamp the trees on a distress inked panel with kraft sand--and clearly, that's not what I did here.  Actually, the card I ended up making looks nothing like the card I'd set out to make!  I remembered this sun ray patterned paper from an older paper pad and decided to stamp the trees over that.

The stamped panel is attached to the right side of an orange dotted patterned paper panel (I'd originally planned to use some blue wave patterned paper here . . .).  I stamped the set's "you bring me sunshine" sentiment right next to the edge of the image panel and accented it with a trio of gold embellishments.  The panel is layered on a golden yellow mat and edged with some orange ric rac, then set on a kraft card base.

Materials Used:
My Island stamp set (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Versafine Smokey Grey ink (Tsukineko); Fresh Snow ink, Harvest Gold cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); Splash and Dots and Stripes-Homefront 6x6 paper pads (Echo Park); gold embellishments (ki Studios); orange ric rac (May Arts); foam tape

  5. Fabulous! The sun ray paper is perfect. And I LOVE how you created the "sand". I'll have to tuck that idea away for future use.
