Color Throwdown 249-I Whale-y Like You

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Joan is our hostess this week. She’s chosen a patriotic color scheme featuring Bermuda Bay, Brilliant Blue, Poppy Parade, and White.

I used the colors along with the current Deconstructed Sketch for my card. I went for a sort of nautical theme rather than a patriotic one, using the whale image from the WPlus9 Bitty Buddy Valentines set for my image panel. I stamped the whale image on a matching die cut piece using Teal Zeal ink and used dimensional dots to attach the whale to an oval panel with a piece of Brilliant Blue cardstock “water” along the bottom. The set’s heart image is stamped over the whale’s spout in red ink.

The image panel is layered over a plaid patterned paper panel, cut with one of WPlus9’s Rounded Rectangle dies. I layered the patterned paper panel on a Bermuda Bay mat, then set it on a white panel with a piece of red embossed cardstock at the bottom. The embossed pattern reminds me of waves, so it was a nice fit for the card. I stamped the “I whale-y like you” sentiment on a white panel in Danube Blue ink and adhered it to the card just beneath the whale image.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD249. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and July's guest designer, Stacey Schafer.
