You're a Star

Here’s my card for this week’s My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge. I’m not thrilled with how this one turned out—the trio of embellishments just isn’t working for me . . .

I used the “you’re a star” sentiment from the Bold Statements set for my focal image. It’s stamped in orange ink on a white pierced circle panel and matted on a matching orange circle. As a fun detail, I added a star brad to the letter “a” in the spot where you’d expect to see open space.

The panel is adhered over a pair of coordinating patterned paper panels—an orange dotted one on the left and a multicolored star patterned one on the right. Once the panel was in place, I added a trio of cork stars to the bottom of the image panel. The trio of stars was too heavy at the bottom of the panel, so I ended up carefully peeling up two of them and replacing them with orange buttons instead.

Materials Used:
Bold Statements stamp set, Orange Fizz and Lemon Drop cardstock, Die-namics pierced circle die (My Favorite Things); Vivid Butterscotch ink (Clearsnap); Whisper White cardstock, small star punch (Stampin’ Up!); Homefront 6x6 paper pad (Echo Park); Alphabet Soup Boy “Star Bright” designer paper (My Mind’s Eye); circle die (Spellbinders); 3x3 Stars die (The Cat’s Pajamas); cork (Creative Impressions); star brad (Making Memories); white twine (Hemptique); orange buttons (Michaels)

  1. I like the layout & the star DP. I know what you mean tho when sometimes we just aren't "feeling it" with a certain card. I think it turned out cute, but you know, we judge ourselves the harshest !
