Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 194-Ahoy Matey

It’s time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! I created a whimsical nautical themed design using stamps and dies from The Cat’s Pajamas. My card also fits the current TCP Tuesday paper piecing challenge. You can find all the challenge details here, but hurry, since the challenge ends tomorrow!

Instead of coloring, I paper pieced the whale image from the A Whale of a Time set using a combination of patterned paper and solid cardstock. I set the whale on a light blue panel with a pair of navy blue strips die cut with TCP’s CutUpsWave Border die along the bottom.

The simple scene is adhered to a striped patterned paper panel over a panel of red star patterned paper and a strip of navy blue ribbon. Once it was in place, I added a pair of shimmery white clouds, made by cutting apart a strip of clouds cut with the CutUps Cloud Border die. I stamped the “ahoy matey” sentiment on the larger of the two clouds in navy blue ink.

To play along, just create a card based on the sketch and link it up on Karen’s blog. For lots of inspiration be sure to check out what the other Sweet Sunday Sketch stampers have created for you this week. Here’s where to find them:
