Wedding Wishes for Kate and John

Kate, the owner of i {heart} papers, got married last weekend and the IHP DT and our current guest designers are showering her with cards today in honor of this special event. I used stamps from Lawn Fawn along with the current Deconstructed Sketch to put together this card that’s already making its way to the newlyweds.

Since they had an outdoor wedding, I went with a card that incorporated elements with nature-inspired patterns. I stamped the large woodgrain background image from the Woodgrain Backdrops set in brown pigment ink on the kraft panel , then heat embossed the stamped image.  The embossed panel is inked with some distress inks for a more rustic look. I stamped one of the set’s heart images on the back of the panel, then used a craft knife to cut it out along the outline.  The open space is backed with a cream flecked cardstock to look (somewhat) like the wood inside the tree. I layered the woodgrain panel on a pair of solid cardstock mats, then adhered it to a piece of honeycomb patterned paper.

The “wedding wishes” sentiment from the Sophie’s Sentiments set is stamped on a red cardstock strip using brown ink.  I edged the strip with some cream ruffled trim, then set it over the woodgrain embossed panel along with a strip of heart patterned paper.  I knotted a piece of ivory faux suede ribbon and adhered it to the left edge of the paper strips.  A trio of brown enamel dots finishes off the design.
