Muse(ing) on Life

Here’s my card for this week’s Muse challenge. I loved the soft color palette of Darnell’s card and the watercolor look of her image, so I incorporated those elements in my design.

I used one of the floral images from Papertrey Ink’s Life stamp set as my focal image. The image was colored with markers to get the different colors on the stems and flowers. I stamped the image on a flecked cream card base, then stamped the sentiment next to it in gray ink. I went with gray instead of black for a softer look to match the card’s pastel tones.

I added a lavender panel with a torn edge to the bottom edge of the card, which helped to ground the image—and incorporated the torn element from Darnell’s original design, too. I wrapped the lavender panel with some green satin ribbon from my scrap pile and tied the ends in a knot to finish the design.

Materials Used:
Life stamp set, Lavender Moon cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Memento Gray Flannel ink and Memento Lulu Lavender and Pear Tart markers (Tsukineko); Oatmeal cardstock (WPlus9); green satin ribbon (Michaels)
