Birthday Fishes

This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a Designer Draft challenge. I used the sketch to make this cute, punny birthday card.

Birthday Fishes-Designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Paper Smooches
The fish from the Birthday Buddies set is my focal image. I die cut the image with the matching die from the Buddies set and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers. The background for the fish is made from a strip of blue cardstock topped with a panel of blue dotted patterned paper. I was going for a sky and water effect . . .

The seam between the two papers is hidden with the sentiment strip. I mixed and matched a few words (and letters!) from the Word Salad and Fanciful Fall sets to get my custom sentiment. Clear stamps make that pretty easy to do! Once the fish was put in place with dimensional dots, I added a trio of white sequin bubbles above him.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Birthday Buddies, Word Salad, and Fanciful Fall stamp sets and Buddies dies, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Crafter's Companion ultrasmooth white cardstock, Spectrum Noir markers (OR1, OR2, BT1, BT2, BT5, GB3, GB5), Echo Park Bundle of Joy Dots and Stripes-Boy 6x6 paper pad, white sequins, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

other: Baja Breeze cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Sea Glass cardstock (Avery Elle); Orange Fizz cardstock (My Favorite Things); corner rounder
