Watt's Up?

Here’s my card for this week’s Muse challenge. I was inspired by the chalkboard style panel and the bright pops of color against the black background.

Instead of using a hanging bird cage as my focal image, I used a pair of light bulb images. The bulbs are from Mama Elephant’s Lights Out stamp set. To get the nice, bright yellow on the gray background, I stamped the solid images in white pigment ink, then stamped over them using the same stamp and yellow pigment ink. The white background helps the yellow to be more vibrant. I added the bulb bases in white ink, then used a ruler and a white gel pen to draw the wires suspending the bulbs from the top of the panel.

The “watt’s up?” sentiment is stamped at the bottom of the panel in white ink. I used the same white ink and my finger to make some chalk-like smudges on the panel around the images and sentiment. I matted the panel on a piece of yellow cardstock, then used foam tape to adhere the panel to a white card base.

Materials Used:
Lights Out stamp set (Mama Elephant); Memento Luxe Wedding Dress and Dandelion inks (Tsukineko); Lemon Drop and Steel Grey cardstock (My Favorite Things); white gel pen (Ranger); foam tape
