You Make My Heart Spin

Here’s my card for this week’s Muse challenge. I was inspired by the layout of Vicki’s card and included similar elements on my own card.

You Make My Heart Spin-designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from The Cat's PajamasI loved the crisp look of the white on white, so I incorporated that in my design. I trimmed turquoise and orange cardstock scraps to create the trio of thin stripes that run the length of the top panel.

The cardstock strips are topped with a die cut pinwheel, made with the CutUps Pinwheel die from The Cat’s Pajamas. To get the two different patterns on the pinwheel, I die cut the pinwheel shape from two different patterned papers, then layered them together before assembling the pinwheel. If you do this, make sure you use lightweight papers—otherwise it will be difficult to assemble the pinwheel.

Before I secured the pinwheel to the panel, I looped a little bit of lightweight linen twine  behind it like Vicki did behind the butterfly on her on her card. This ended up being the most challenging part of the card for me! I’m sure there’s some trick to doing this that I'm not aware of . . . The “you make my heart spin” sentiment from the TCP What a Blast set was stamped next to the pinwheel in teal pigment ink. I adhered the finished panel to a white card base.  I thought about adding foam tape underneath the panel, but in the end, decided the pinwheel had enough dimension on its own and I didn't need to add more.

Materials Used:
What a Blast stamp set, CutUps Pinwheel die, cream linen twine (The Cat’s Pajamas); Memento Luxe Teal Zeal ink (Tsukineko); Tempting Turquoise and Pumpkin Pie cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); white cardstock, silver brad (Michaels); Little Boy-Buttons and Rockstar designer papers (Echo Park)
