Girls Rule

Here's another take on the current (and very first!) sketch at Poppy Sketches, sponsored by Starving Artistamps.  You can find all of the challenge details, some amazing design team samples for inspiration, and a coupon code to use at Starving Artistamps here.

Girls Rule-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Starving Artistamps
I used the princess stamp from the Starving Artistamps Royalty set for my card.I stamped the princess on white cardstock and colored some of the image with Copic markers.  The dress was paper pieced with a piece of dotted paper.  For a little sparkle, I colored her crown with a silver gel pen.

For the background, I found a piece of floral paper with the challenge color palette--peony pink, blush, and tangerine.  I matted the panel on a piece of dark pink cardstock, then adhered it to a pale pink card base.  I added a strip of wide rose colored ric rac along the bottom of the patterned paper panel, extending to the edges of the card base.  I used foam tape to secure the princess at the bottom of the card, overlapping the ric rac.  The "girls rule" sentiment was stamped on a piece of orange cardstock.  I die cut it with a fishtail flag die and tied a piece of narrow rose grosgrain ribbon around it, then adhered it to the top of the card.  A few pink sequins add a final girly touch to the design.

Starving Artistamps is offering a generous discount to Poppy Sketches fans through the end of April, so be sure to stop by and check out the store, too.  They have a great assortment of stamps and sentiments, too.  The Doodle Factory sets are some of my favorites--be sure to check them out.  Happy shopping!
