Let's Party

This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a Picture Perfect challenge. I took my inspiration from the photo’s color scheme and from the fun lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

Let's Party card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Paper Smooches
The card’s layout is based on the current Mojo Monday sketch. I thought that the sketch’s round panels were a great way to bring in the look of the lanterns in the photo. My lanterns are circles punched from watercolor paper that was “stamped” with a clear block inked with distress inks and spritzed with water. I attached a piece of black twine to the top of each lantern, then arranged them on a white panel using dimensional dots to hold them in place. I tucked the strings behind the back of the panel, then adhered the panel to a card base edged with strips of purple chevron patterned paper and shiny gold paper.

I stamped the “let’s party” sentiment from the Word Salad set on a green fishtail flag strip. After edging the strip with a bit of gold paper, I adhered it to the cardfront over the bottom lantern. A few white sequins add a final festive touch to the card.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Word Salad stamp set; Tsukineko Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink; Doodlebug Design Kraft in Color-Color 6x6 paper pad; Hemptique black twine; white sequins; Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

other: Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, and Dusty Concord distress inks (Ranger); gold paper (Target); circle punch (EK Success)
