You Were Meant to Sparkle

This week’s blogger challenge theme is to make your own background. I went back to the star stencil I used on this card for my background, but this time created a feminine design with it.

You Were Meant to Sparkle card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from My Favorite Things
I used the stencil with metallic silver embossing paste on a piece of watercolor cardstock. After letting it dry (while I took a nap—really!), I washed over the stars with various shades of pink watercolors and a wide paintbrush, then let the panel dry again (while I ate dinner!).

Once it dried and I flattened it out a bit, I stamped the “you were meant to sparkle” sentiment from the My Favorite Things set with  the same name at the bottom using sparkly silver ink. I matted the panel on silver paper, then trimmed it on an angle and adhered it to a dark pink card base.

Materials Used:
You Were Meant to Sparkle stamp set (My Favorite Things); Melon Mambo cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); silver paper (Target); Encore Silver ink (Tsukineko); Star Dust stencil (Memory Box); silver metallic embossing paste (Dreamweaver); watercolors
