All of My Smiles Begin with You

Here’s my card for June’s first Viva la Verve sketch. I incorporated the suggested color scheme (aqua, navy, and yellow) along with the “winged whimsy” theme from Verve’s current Diva Inspirations challenge into my design.

All of My Smiles Begin with You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Verve Stamps
I’m trying to make a dent in my older patterned paper stash, so I used some bits and pieces from an older My Mind’s Eye paper pad to piece together the aqua and yellow background panels for my cardfront. A scalloped navy cardstock strip hides the seam between the two papers (and the holes on the pieces!) nicely. I stamped the “all of my smiles begin with you” sentiment from Verve's Better Together set on a pierced rectangle panel, then added that on top of the cardfront.

My winged element is one of the pretty butterflies from the Blue Skies stamp set. The butterfly was colored with Copic markers and adhered over a pair of pierced circle die cuts set at the bottom of the sentiment panel. The sentiment panel looked a bit empty to me, so I went back and added the line of distressed chevrons at the bottom in yellow ink. A trio of bright yellow sequins scattered around the sentiment panel complete the design and tie in nicely with the chevrons.

Materials Used:
Blue Skies and Better with You stamp sets (Verve Stamps); Memento Tuxedo Black ink and Memento Luxe Nautical Blue and Dandelion ink (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Aqua Mist cardstock, medium scallop die (Papertrey Ink); Night of Navy cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Stella and Rose-Gertie 6x6 paper pad (My Mind’s Eye); pierced circle and pierced rectangle dies (My Favorite Things); Lemon Drop sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)
