Thanks for a Great Year

Here’s my card for the current embossing challenge at Lawnscaping. I used heat embossing on this card celebrating the end of the school year.

Thanks for a Great Year card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Lawn FawnI love the chalkboard image in Lawn Fawn’s A Good Apple set—you can do so many things to customize it! Here, I paper pieced the chalkboard using kraft and gray cardstock, then heat embossed the “thanks for a great year” sentiment on it using white pigment ink and white embossing powder. I brushed the panel with the white ink pad to give it a chalk dust-y look, then added the ruler and apple images at the bottom of the chalkboard.

I used dimensional dots to adhere the finished chalkboard to a golden yellow card base covered with two patterned paper panels. I love mixing dots and stripes like I did here! The seam between the two papers is covered with a strip of red cardstock. I thought about adding something else, like some enamel dots, but in the end, decided to keep the chalkboard the focus of the design.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Lawn Fawn A Good Apple stamp set; Crafter’s Companion ultrasmooth white cardstock; Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink and Memento Luxe Wedding Dress ink; Carta Bella It’s a Celebration 6x6 paper pad; Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

other: Harvest Gold cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Steel Grey cardstock (My Favorite Things); Riding Hood Red cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); markers (Copic)
