Color Throwdown 301-Let Your Dreams Take Flight

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Wanda is our hostess this week and she’s chosen this warm and cozy color palette inspired by a trio of knit blankets—Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, and Soft Sky. I used the colors along with Reverse Confetti's Paper Crane stamp set and the current Mojo Monday sketch for a clean, masculine take on the colors.

Let Your Dreams Take Flight card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Reverse Confetti
I started out by stamping the crane image in gray ink on a scrap of shimmery white cardstock and coloring it with Copic markers.  The colored image was cut out and adhered to a pierced circle die cut using foam tape.

I didn't have any Calypso Coral paper in my paper stash, so I found a piece of patterned paper with coral tones in it to use instead.  The panel was adhered to a kraft card base over a longer, narrower Soft Sky cardstock panel.  I layered the image panel on top, then ran a strip of gray cardstock across the card base, setting it just underneath the raised image.  The "let your dreams take flight" sentiment was stamped in gray ink on a white cardstock strip with rounded edges, then tucked underneath the gray cardstock strip. I finished the design with a trio of enamel dots arranged around the image and sentiment.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Just be sure that the challenge colors are the dominant ones in your project. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD301.

Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and our July guestie, Diane Jaquay.
