You Are My Sunshine

Here's my take on the current AEI♥U challenge to use stripes.  I used a piece of striped paper and a bunch of dies along with the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches to put this one together.

You Are My Sunshine card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Avery Elle
The aqua striped paper forms the backdrop for a sun that I fashioned out of a pair of die cut circles.  I went with my standby dots and stripes combo here, using a dotted pattern on my lemony yellow sun.  The "are my sunshine" sentiment from the Avery Elle Fill in the Blank set was stamped on the polka dotted circle in AE's Aquamarine ink.  To finish the sentiment, I die cut  the "you" from the Word Fill in the Blank die set a few times and stacked the letters for dimension before adhering them to the round panel.  It  was adhered to the striped panel using foam tape.  For a little sparkle, I tucked a pair of die cut shimmery white clouds under the sun and sprinkled a trio of sequins beneath them.  After edging the panel with narrow strips of yellow cardstock, I adhered it to an aquamarine card base.

Materials Used:
Fill in the Blank stamp set, Aquamarine ink, Aquamarine cardstock,Word Fill in the Blank dies (Avery Elle); Lemon Chiffon cardstock (My Favorite Things); Shimmery White cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Aqua Mist and Lemon Tart patterned paper (Papertrey Ink); stitched cloud dies (Lil' Inker Designs); circle and pinking circle dies (Spellbinders); sequins (Treehouse Studio); foam tape

  1. Gorgeous! I think vertical stripes on this sort of sketch look wonderful and really draw the eye. And what a clever way to interpret the circle and banner - so cool! Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
