You Brighten My Day

I couldn't resist creating a card inspired by this month's Paper Smooches summer themed challenge!  I took my cues from the inspiration photo's color scheme and mixed patterns to put together this sun-filled design.

You Brighten My Day card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Paper SmoochesThe sun was made from a golden yellow pinking circle topped with a matching yellow dotted circle.  I die cut a pair of contrasting red eyeglasses using the Glasses dies.  The lenses were filled in with some sparkly silver paper for a reflective look.  I used foam tape to adhere the glasses on top of the sun.  I debated about adding some wiggly eyes, but in the end, decided not to.

To go with the sun, I stamped the "you brighten my day" sentiment from the We Totally Click stamp set  at the end of a kraft strip. After tying a piece of yellow ribbon around the end of the strip, I adhered it to a striped aqua panel, then added the sun and sunglasses on top.  A trio of aqua sequins arranged around the sun completed the design.

Materials Used:
We Totally Click stamp set, Glasses dies (Paper Smooches); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); Poppy Parade cardstock, yellow grosgrain ribbon (Stampin' Up!); Harvest Gold, Aqua Mist, and Kraft cardstock, Aqua Mist and Lemon Tart patterned papers (Papertrey Ink); silver cardstock (Michaels); circle and pinking circle dies (Spellbinders); aqua sequins (Treehouse Studios); foam tape
