Out of This World

I'm joining in on the very first Lawn Fawnatics challenge with this birthday themed design.  It's also my first attempt at a galaxy style background.  Not sure I'm too thrilled with how the background turned out . . .

Out of This World card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn
I used a big pile of distress inks, a panel of watercolor paper, and several ink applicators to create the background.  I was happy with it until I drizzled the water on top to make the stars.  I was a little heavy-handed with my drops and they look more like blotches than stars.  Oh, well . . .

To make my outer space scene, I stamped, colored and cut out a trio of images from Lawn Fawn's Out of This World stamp set.  They're arranged on the background panel along with a shimmery white "moon" with debossed polka dot craters. For the sentiment, I stamped "hope your birthday is out of this world" in silver pigment ink, then heat embossed it in silver so it would stand out.  The finished panel was matted on silver cardstock, then adhered to a gray card base.

Materials Used:
Out of This World stamp set, Out of This World dies (Lawn Fawn); Memento Tuxedo Black and Delicata Silvery Shimmer inks (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Mustard Seed, Dusty Concord, Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky, and Black Soot distress inks (Ranger); Steel Grey cardstock (My Favorite Things); Shimmery White cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Recollections Silver cardstock (Michaels); circle die (Spellbinders); Polka Dots embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts); foam tape
