Mad for Plaid Birthday

Happy Birthday card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from WPlus9
Here's my card for the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I used patterned paper and die cuts to put the design together quickly.  I picked a blue and gray plaid patterned paper to cover most of the cardfront.  The diagonal lines made it easy to cut the paper straight when I trimmed out the middle section!  I adhered the pieces to a coordinating light blue card base--without adding something contrasting along the patterned paper edges, which I should have done . . .

For the sentiment, I used a die from the WPlus9 Happy Trio die set to cut the word "happy" from gray cardstock and craft foam.  After layering the die cut pieces, I adhered them to the cardfront.  The word "birthday" from the Whole Lotta Happy set was stamped just beneath the dimensional word in Versafine's Onyx Black ink.  It's still my favorite for getting crisp, dark sentiments.

 Materials Used:
Whole Lotta Happy stamp set, Happy Trio dies (WPlus9); Versafine Onyx Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); Spring Rain cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Steel Grey cardstock (My Favorite Things); Perfectly Plaid Winter 6x6 paper pad (Lawn Fawn); white matte enamel dots (Eyelet Outlet)

  2. The plaid patterned paper looks fabulous with the blue and the sentiment is the perfect size for the card layout. Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
