After last week’s big snowfall, it’s been nice to finally see some much needed sunshine this week. My card for this week’s Muse challenge brings a little bit of sunshine, too. I was inspired by Marion’s layout, the combination of a die cut and stamped text for a sentiment, and her colorful stripes underneath the sentiment.
For my stripes, instead of repeatedly stamping an image in multiple colors, I went monochromatic, using a long triangular stencil I fashioned from scrap paper. The stencil was inked in yellow distress inks on a pale yellow panel for a nice tone on tone look. To visually separate the stenciled lines from the sentiment (and hide the uneven ends, too!), I adhered a strip of narrow gray cardstock between the stenciled panel and the sentiment panel.
For the sentiment, I die cut the word “hello” twice, once from pale yellow cardstock and once from gray cardstock. I layered the two die cut words, offsetting them slightly to get a shadow-like appearance from the gray once it was adhered to the white panel. The “sunshine” sentiment from the Papertrey Ink Wonderful Words: Hello set was stamped beneath the die cut word in yellow pigment ink. I accented the sentiment with a trio of enamel dots.
Materials Used:
Wonderful Words Hello stamp set, Lemon Tart and Smokey Shadow cardstock, Wonderful Words: Hello die (Papertrey Ink); Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade distress inks (Ranger); Memento Luxe Dandelion ink (Tsukineko); white cardstock (Michaels); enamel dots (My Mind’s Eye)
I feel better just looking at this warm sunny card (we're having a rainy day today!) Thanks for joining us at Muse this week, Lori!
