Hooray It's Your Big Day

I'm sharing something sweet from SugarPea Designs today.  I used last week's Sugar Sketch for this festive birthday card in a pastel color palette.

Hooray card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from SugarPea Designs
The elephant from the Tons of Fun set is my focal image.  I stamped the party hat first, then masked it with a sticky note before stamping the elephant to get the hat perched perfectly on its head.  The image was colored with Copic markers and carefully cut out, then adhered to a SugarCuts Zig Zag Stitched Circle die cut using foam tape.

The scrap of striped paper that runs across the card was what actually inspired the color scheme for my card.  It had been sitting on my desk for a few days and finally found a home on this card!  I stamped the set's "hooray it's your big day" sentiment on a blue Stitched Flags die cut that I narrowed down a bit to better fit my card.  It was tucked under the bottom edge of the patterned paper strip.  I finished the card with a bunch of blue sequins scattered around the cardfront.

Be sure to check out the creations that some of my other SPD teammates are sharing today on their blogs:

And, don't forget that you still have time to join in on the festivities for SPD's 2nd birthday!  You can check out all of the details here.
