I Think You're Brilliant

I had a co-worker ask me to bring in some more cards with an encouraging theme, so I put together this one using the current sketch from Global Design Project.  It worked perfectly for the fun light bulb image from Mama Elephant's Lights Out set.

I Think You're Brilliant card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Mama Elephant
I die cut the bulb from yellow cardstock, then again from vellum.  After stamping the filament on the yellow bulb, I placed the vellum die cut on top.  It softens the bold yellow just a bit and helps it to look like an old-style bulb.  The silver die cut base nicely hides the adhesive keeping the layers in place.

I used foam tape to place the bulb on a gray cardstock strip placed across a gray and white dotted panel.  To "ground" the bulb, I stretched a piece of gray twine from the bulb's base to the top of the patterned paper panel.  To bring in just a bit more yellow, I tucked a yellow scalloped cardstock strip underneath the bottom edge of the gray strip.  The "I think you're brilliant" sentiment was stamped on the gray strip in black ink, just above the yellow scallops.  The finished panel was adhered to a pale gray card base.

Materials Used:
Lights Out stamp set, Lights Out dies (Mama Elephant); Versafine Onyx Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); Lemon Drop, Grout Gray, and Gravel Gray cardstock (My Favorite Things); white vellum; silver paper (Target); Chalk Studio Basics 6x6 paper pad (My Mind's Eye); scallop edge punch (Stampin' Up!); gray twine (Hemptique); foam tape
