Waving Hello

This week’s blogger challenge theme is fancy folds. I’m not usually one to make cards like this, but I got brave and tried out an interactive card that I think qualifies as a fancy fold since I had to do a little folding and scoring to get all of the pieces in place!  I used a bunch of stamps and dies from Paper Smooches, so this one's doubling as my entry into this week's PS SPARKS anything goes challenge.

From the front, this looks like a regular card. The image panel features the sailboat from the Paper Smooches Wicked Nauticool set. I stamped the image on white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers, then used the matching die from the Nauticool set to cut out the image. It's adhered to a background made from a piece of patterned paper with a pair of die cut wave strips layered at the bottom. I added a few fluffy white felt clouds cut with the PS Clouds die to add texture and interest.

This card is called a T-slider card because of the shape of the hidden mechanism that reveals a message tucked behind the image panel. The blue tab that extends out from the right side of the card is attached to the mechanism and, when it’s gently pulled, the image folds back to show the “waving hello” sentiment, stamped in navy blue pigment ink. How fun is that?
