New Stamps for Me--And Some for You, Too!
As promised--a creation with some of my brand new stamps and a chance for you to get some new stamps too (see the bottom of this post for blog candy details). . .
Here's the story behind this card. One of my mom's best friends moved from Maryland to Utah at the beginning of the month. My mom is already missing her, and her friend is already homesick. So, my mom asked that when my new stamps arrived, I make a "Moose You" card for her to send to Utah to brighten her friend's day. Since I'm using Moose You for a new catalog swap for my swap group, I thought this was a good "warm up" opportunity to try the set out while thinking about a plan for my swap.
I stamped the moose in Close to Cocoa ink, then added grass underneath him (or her, maybe?) using the grass stamp from Trees Three from the Winter Mini catalog. I added some sponged Old Olive ink to fill in the grass and some Bashful Blue ink for a sky. The flower is the one from Wild About You. I think if I did this again, I might use the Daisy Field wheel instead of the grass and flower stamps--it has flowers and grass all in one.
When I cut out and mounted this stamp set, I cut the sentiments apart from the animal images so I could easily place the sentiments where I wanted. I stamped the "moose you so much" on a scrap of white paper and used the ticket corner punch to punch the edges to make the sentiment look like it was on a tab.
I used the new Polka Dot background on the Close to Cocoa strip. I love the look of polka dots and this background is much easier to use than lining up the small block from Polka Dots & Paisley over and over to cover a large space. I also like the new Bashful Blue ribbon. I use brown and blue a lot together and had a hard time finding a good match when I wanted to use blue ribbon other than gingham, so I know that I'll be using a lot of the Bashful Blue ribbon.
You may have noticed the title of this post mentions new stamps for YOU. Well, here are the details. . . I found these brand new Studio G dollar stamp sets at Michaels today. I have nine sets (plus a block) to share with one of my blog readers. I'll use a random number generator to pick a winner from all of the comments on this post. The winner will be selected on Wednesday evening. Good luck!
Materials Used (All from Stampin' Up!):
Moose You, Trees Three, Polka Dot, and Dots & Daisies stamp sets; Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate, and Old Olive Classic inks; Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, and Whisper White cardstock; ticket corner punch; mat pack and paper piercing tool; Bashful Blue grosgrain; white gel pen; sponges
