Color Throwdown 841-Fall Thank You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lisa is our hostess this with a pretty mix of colors--terracotta, navy, and pale blue. 

 

I added in a little metallic shine for my take on the challenge. After die cutting a trio of leaves with stitched detailing from terracotta cardstock, I partially dipped them in copper embossing powder, heating it for a pretty shine. I arranged the leaves on a pale blue card base with a wide strip of contrasting navy cardstock near the bottom, using foam tape for dimension. A narrow strip of terracotta cardstock edges the bottom of the navy panel to tie the elements together. The "thank you so much" sentiment was heat embossed in the same copper as on the leaves for a final sparkly touch.

I paired the colors with the current sketch from Sunday Stamps for a cheerful thank you card. My focal image is the flower from Reverse Confetti's Sending Smiles set, styled as a sunflower. I used foam tape to position it on a sunny yellow card base, then tucked pairs of green leaves beneath it. The set's "thank you" sentiment is stamped just above the flower on the right side of the card. A contrasting strip of red on red dotted pattern paper adhered to the left edge of the card finishes the design.

Color Throwdown 835-Floral Birthday

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Susie is our challenge hostess with a fun trio of colors--yellow, green, and turquoise.

I paired the colors with the current TGIF Challenge to create a birthday card for a colleague. My focal image is a cluster of flowers and leaves made with Reverse Confetti's Bold Blooms stamps and dies. I used foam tape to attach the flowers to the round panel to add dimension and interest. The round panel is matted on green cardstock for a pop of color, then adhered to a yellow patterned paper panel placed on a contrasting turquoise card base. The "happy birthday" sentiment from RC's Word Up set was stamped on a narrow turquoise strip in turquoise ink to tie in the background color. I placed it over the yellow panel, tucking it underneath the raised blooms, to finish the design.

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Amy is our hostess this week with a mix of colors inspired by nature--green, turquoise, and orange.

I paired the colors with the current challenge at Sunday Stamps to make this floral themed birthday card that I'll be sharing with the recipient today. My focal image is a cluster of poppies made with a stamp/die set from Reverse Confetti. I used foam tape to place the flower trio on a contrasting turquoise panel, then matted it on a slightly larger green square before I adhered it to the lower right corner of a leafy orange patterned paper panel on an orange card base. The "today is all about you" sentiment was stamped in brown ink on a narrow white strip and added to the cardfront with more foam tape.

Color Throwdown 826-Happy Valentine's Day

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lisa is our hostess with a sweet mix of colors--pink, brown, white.

I paired the colors with the current challenge at Sunday Stamps for a simple Valentine's Day design. My focal panel is a pair of pink hearts cut with dies from Reverse Confetti. I used foam tape to secure them to a white rounded edge panel framed with a die cut brown scallop edged rectangle. The panel is centered on a pink card base matching the hearts over strips of layered white, brown, and pink cardstock strips of varying widths. I stamped the small Valentine's Day sentiment in brown ink on a narrow white panel and used foam tape to add it to the cardfront overlapping the hearts.

Color Throwdown 814-Bold Happy Birthday

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Amy Rohl is our hostess this week with a classic color combination--red, yellow, and blue.

For my take on the colors, I created a simple birthday card that I gave to one of my work colleagues on Monday. Since I knew that a bunch of people would be signing the card, I used an easy to write on white card base. The red "happy" die cut backed with a blue frame really pops against the white! I adhered the die cut word over the top of a yellow strip that is edged with a narrow contrasting strip of red cardstock. The "birthday to you" sentiment was stamped on the strip in blue ink. It doesn't look as blue as I would have liked because of the yellow background, but it still works. A few red enamel dots scattered around the stamped sentiment finished the design.

Color Throwdown 810-Teacher Thank You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Wanda is our hostess with a trio of earthy colors--brick red, terracotta, and green.

I paired the colors with the current challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday for this teacher thank you card. I used dies from Reverse Confetti to create an apple. The die cut piece was adhered to the left side of a black narrow oval die cut--think old-fashioned chalkboard here, okay? I placed the pieces on the left side of a green card base with a narrow terracotta-ish cardstock strip across the bottom. The handwritten style of the "thank you" text  seemed like a good match for a teacher card. I stamped the sentiment from RC's Little Bits Sentiments set in black ink on a cream panel and matted it on red to match the apple before adding it to the cardfront. A trio of red enamel dots finished off the design.

Color Throwdown 806-Sunny Birthday Wishes

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lisa is our challenge hostess with a pretty mix of colors--yellow, brown, and green.

I paired the colors with the layout from the current challenge at TGIF Challenges for another birthday card. I used Reverse Confetti's Sending Smiles set to create a pretty sunflower for my focal image. 

The background for the flower is a cheery gingham pattern. I matted the panel on brown cardstock before placing it on a yellow card base. To break up the pattern a bit, I adhered a wide solid yellow strip to the gingham panel, just slightly off center for interest. The yellow panel is edged with the same brown cardstock I used to mat the gingham panel to tie the elements together. The flower was adhered on top using foam tape, allowing me to tuck the leaves beneath it. I stamped the "birthday wishes" sentiment from RC's Party Pals set on a narrow yellow strip. The panel is matted on brown cardstock--again--then adhered over the yellow panel with the right edge tucked beneath the raised flower image.

Color Throwdown 782-Sprinkled with Lots of Fun

 

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Kelly is our hostess this week with a combination of colors inspired by a pretty floral bouquet--burgundy, rose, and sage.

I needed a birthday card for a colleague, so I used the colors along with the current sketch from the Paper Players to make a donut themed birthday card. My focal image is a die cut donut from Reverse Confetti's Donut You Know stamp set. I die cut the donut from kraft cardstock and the icing from pink, then used a burgundy ink to add the stamped sprinkles. The panels on the cardfront were created from pink and burgundy cardstock scraps. I matted them on sage green panels before arranging them on a white panel. The donut die cut was adhered with foam tape. I tucked the narrow sage green strip under the donut, then stamped the birthday sentiment on the pink panel in the space just beneath the strip. The finished panel was adhered to an easy to write on pink card base.

Color Throwdown 780-Sending Love

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Wanda is our hostess today with a classic Valentine's Day color combination--red, kraft, and white. 

I did just a tiny bit of stamping here, relying on a large die cut word to do most of the work for me. My focal image is the layered die cut word "love" made with a die from Reverse Confetti. To add interest, I used foam tape to pop up the heart that stands in for the "o." The word was placed directly on a kraft card base. I stamped the word "sending" from RC's Sending Smiles just above the die cut in black ink. I accented the word with a small die cut envelope and a red heart die cut.

Color Throwdown 775-You're My Lovebug

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Susie is our hostess this week with a bold mix of colors inspired by a beautiful bouquet--pink, purple, and green.

I resisted my initial impulse to go with something floral. Instead I used stamps and dies from Reverse Confetti for this simple love themed design. After coloring up the ladybug image from RC's Lovebugs set with Copic markers and carefully cutting it out by hand, I set it aside to assemble the rest of the card. I cut the word "love" from pink and purple cardstock using RC's Big Love dies, then arranged the pieces on a pink card base. For dimension, I used foam tape behind the pink heart that serves as the "o." The "you're my" from the "you're my lovebug" sentiment was stamped in black ink just above the die cut word. I used foam tape to place the bug image at the bottom of the "e." To bring in the final challenge color--green--I used a paper punch to create a narrow strip of grass that I tucked beneath the bug to complete the card.

Color Throwdown 769-Happy Birthday

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Vickie is our hostess this week with a pretty mix of colors--pink, grey, and green.

On e of my friends has a little one who's turning four shortly, so I used the colors to make her a birthday card. The layout for my design is based on the current sketch from TGIF Challenges. Since the birthday girl is a big fan of Daniel Tiger, I picked a cat image from Reverse Confetti's Heart Pals set as my focal image. I colored the cat and balloons with Copic markers before cutting the image out by hand and placing it on a white circle using foam tape. The patterned paper panels on my cardfront were pieces found in my scrap pile. The colors match the challenge pretty well and the patterns worked perfectly together. I matted all of the panels on green cardstock and arranged them on a pink card base. The "happy birthday" sentiment was created by combining words from two RC sets--Hooray and Happy Coordinates. The text was matted on green and added to the cardfront overlapping all three panels to finish the card. It's already on its way to the birthday girl!

Color Throwdown 768-My Heart Smiles

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lynn is our hostess this week with a seasonal color palette--yellow gold, brown, red, and kraft.

I paired the colors with the current sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday for this simple thinking of you design. I covered a kraft card base with solid and plaid patterned panels of golden yellow, using a strip of wide red grosgrain ribbon to hide the transition between the two pieces. A chocolate brown fishtail flag strip was tucked beneath the ribbon on the left side of the cardfront. I topped the fishtail flag piece with a pair of hearts cut with Reverse Confetti's Love Notes dies. The "my heart smiles just thinking of you" sentiment from RC's The Most Beauty stamp set was stamped in brown ink on the right side of the cardfront just above the ribbon strip.

Color Throwdown 765-You Are So Kind

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Susie is our hostess this week with colors inspired by a fun seasonal photo--orange, yellow, and green.

The layout for my card is from the current challenge at TGIF Challenges. I created a cheery yellow flower as my focal image using Reverse Confetti's Sending Smiles stamp set. The flower was stamped with yellow ink then cut out with the coordinating die. I used foam tape to adhere it to a white panel, then tucked the green leaves beneath the raised flower image. The image panel was matted on orange cardstock before I adhered it to a yellow polka dotted patterned paper panel. For contrast, I matted the patterned panel on orange cardstock, then positioned it on a yellow card base. The "you are so kind" sentiment was stamped in black ink on an orange strip. I placed it on the cardfront, tucking it beneath the flower and securing it over the leaves.

Color Throwdown 757-Happy Birthday to You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! I'm the challenge hostess this week with a color combination inspired by a fun bookcase--grey, aqua, and green.

The layout for my design is based on the current challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. I used distress oxides in shades of aqua and green to color a white cardstock panel, blending the two colors together across the panel. For my sentiment, I die cut the word "happy" from black and gray cardstock using Reverse Confetti's Happy dies. After adhering the gray letters to the black base using foam tape, I placed the word on the top of the ink blended strip. the "birthday to you" from RC's Happy Coordinates stamp set was stamped beneath it in black ink. I matted the panel on black cardstock before adhering it to a gray card base matching the die cut letters.

Color Throwdown 756-Thank You So Much

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lisa is our hostess this week with an earth-toned mix of colors--green, orange, and brown

My card's layout is based on the current challenge at TGIF Challenges. I used leaves from Reverse Confetti's Fall Foliage to create a warm focal point beneath the sentiment. The leaves were stamped in brown, then inked with distress oxides and cut out by hand. I arranged them on a kraft card base over a wide strip of orange patterned paper rescued from my scrap bin. The patterned panel was edged in brown to help it stand out. I did the same on the sentiment panel after stamping the text from RC's Sentimental Sayings set in brown on a cream strip. The sentiment was placed over the leaves using foam tape for dimension. A green fishtail flag strip tied with twine for texture was placed at the top of the cardfront to finish the design.

Color Throwdown 755-You Rule

 It's time for another Color Throwdown! Susie is our hostess this week with a color palette inspired by a beautiful bouquet--red, yellow, green, and white.

It's almost time to head back to school here, so I used the colors to make a school theme design that I could easily create multiples of to send to my colleagues to wish them a great new year. I used Reverse Confetti's Worm Wishes set for the worm, ruler, and apple images. They were clustered on the right side of a white panel, using foam tape to adhere the apple and worm for dimension. I stamped the set's "you rule" sentiment beneath the ruler, then layered the panel onto a coordinating green card base. I was able to get four of these done in about 20 minutes--perfect for what I needed!

Color Throwdown 744-Square Thank You

 
It's time for another Color Throwdown! Amy Rohl is our hostess this week with a mix of neutrals plus a pop of color--pink, kraft, gray, and white.

I paired the colors with the current challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches for this simple square thank you card. I used Reverse Confetti's Background Basics stamp set to stamp a cluster of circles on a white panel, varying the colors and patterns for interest. For the sentiment, I die cut the word "thank you" from gray cardstock. I also cut the words from scraps of white cardstock. The white pieces were layered beneath the gray ones to add dimension before I placed the die cuts on the stamped panel. The panel was adhered to a pink card base. For a touch of sparkle and to bring in one more round element, I arranged a trio of pink sequins around the words to finish the design.

Color Throwdown 742-Happy Mother's Day

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Kelly is our hostess this week with a bold mix of colors--orange, aqua, lilac, and black.

I paired the colors with the current sketch at Sunday Stamps for a Mother's Day card in a non-traditional color scheme. My focal image is a simple flower from Reverse Confetti's Sending Smiles stamp set, first stamped in orange, then with details added in lilac. I used the matching die to cut out the stamped image, then placed it on an aqua card base over a wide panel of orange striped paper. The orange paper was edged along the left side with a narrow strip of black to add some contrast. I combined a pair of RC stamp sets to create the Mother's Day sentiment that I stamped in black ink on a lilac fishtail flag strip. The strip was placed across the bottom of the card, tucking it beneath the raised flower image, to finish the design.

Color Throwdown 737-Flamingo Birthday

It's time for another Color Throwdown! It's my turn to be hostess this week and I've selected a color palette inspired by this fun bedroom scene--pink, rust, and green.

I paired the colors with Reverse Confetti's Fabulous Flamingos stamp set and the current sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. My flamingo was stamped in pink and rust inks. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the body and wings, then used foam tape to adhere them to the white panel over the legs stamped in rust ink. I used a Heffy Doodle stencil and green distress oxide to create grass to ground the image. The image panel was layered on green cardstock matching the inked grass. I adhered the image panel to the left side of a pink card base over a narrow strip of rust cardstock. The "happy bird-day" sentiment was stamped in rust ink on a white panel, then matted on matching rust cardstock before I adhered it to the cardfront to finish the design.
